We are Paul and Iveta and we have been together since 2013. We purchased a Narrowboat in 2018 and in the beginning of 2019 we began living on it permanently. We are so happy living on the boat, exploring the British Canal System that in the beginning of 2023 we had built a little unpowered narrowboat which is called a butty and named it "BRIGITA". We have been using our spare time and money to paint it as well as fit it out in preparation for it to be used as our new business and workshop. I first had the idea of starting our own business when I purchased a pack of towel hangers a few years ago so that we could hang our towels and save space on our Narrowboat. They were made from a macrame type rope and crimped together with a thin piece of metal. After using them for just a few weeks they started to fall apart. I used some polyester thread to repair them in the same way that you would keep your rope ends tidy. They were so strong that we kept them on the towels even if they went into the washing machine. A couple of years later they are still in constant use and working perfectly. This gave me the initial idea to buy the rope and the clips and make them myself. I gave them to friends and family and they became popular. This then gave us the idea to begin our new business. I purchased some thicker rope and made different sized dog leads which also became popular. Space was desperate and we could not afford to purchase a much bigger boat so we opted to have a butty boat built.
We are purchasing a large amount of spares and consumable to sell canal side to other boaters and walkers on the towpath. We understood that after spending a couple of years travelling the canal network that there is always something you have either forgotten or simply run out of. There is also that awful feeling when you have for example a loose electrical connection or blown fuse and don't have a spare. You could be days away from a Chandlers, a Marina or even sometimes a shop. We simply aim to stock everything you could ever need from a mooring pin to ropes, fenders to fuses, screws to bolts and even lighters to mobile phone cables. On board we will have installed a Sublimation Printer, Vinyl Cutter, Inkjet Printer, Embroidery Sewing Machine and an A3 Ultra Violet Printer which we will be using for other crafting projects. We also have a 1400 spin 8Kg washing machine which is for the sole use for laundry of other boaters. We aim to be as off grid as possible using solar power and making our own water using the latest water filtration system.
We hope that in march 2025 we should be ready and prepared to be back out and travelling the canal network making and selling our crafts and other supplies and we look forward to seeing you then.
